What’s the Deal With the Baby Tigers in Cabo San Lucas?
Question by Brandy: What’s the deal with the baby tigers in Cabo San Lucas? I just got off a cruise and Cabo San Lucas was one of the stops. There were two “Wild Cabo” stands at the pier in Cabo with VERY young baby tigers that these people would let you hold and have a picture with for a $ 25 “donation.” According to them, the “donation” would benefit the Mexico tiger conservancy…?? It was VERY weird. I questioned the people and they said they get the baby tigers for 8 weeks “on loan” from the conservation. What conservation would loan out baby tigers? Now I’m angry at myself that I didn’t ask more questions. I mean this baby was maybe 10 lbs – - it was the size of my cat at home. The baby tiger didn’t look undernourished or anything – - he was sleeping. I just felt so bad that this animal was in a cage away from its mother – -something was definitely off.
